Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
