Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
